your stuff taken off at work right Helena could hear Olivia typing on her end I think so You d think they d get bored of the story after a while But yours is so interesting Hel You vanished for a decade came back to find your parents had another kid while you were gone one who was significantly better than you in every way and you don t even remember what happened The audiences just eat that stuff up Helena rolled her eyes You re having way too much fun with this stuff Well they don t grill me about not remembering anything Olivia said Except that one guy who wanted to talk about surprise siblings with me That sucked It is literally the worst thing Maybe don t head right home tonight though Olivia added It sounds like they might getting a little invasive and I don t know how much the university is going to let slip about me if they call the department looking for me I m seeing Ray tonight anyway Helena said So I won t see you home Maybe not My sister s gonna score I gotta get back to work Helena said She couldn t keep the smile off her face Try not to kill the interns escaping reality nanowrimo Excerpts Day 26 PURPLE BAR November 26 2013 Shea 1 Comment My living right now Ugh Word Count 177330 I am validated I won Take that Cin It s been a little crazy I know I have gone nearly 10 days without an update but that wasn t intentional A lot has happened including getting sick and my living room turning into an episode of hoarders due to a surprise needing to clear out the storage locker It still looks like that I can start thinking about putting everything back tomorrow And of course it s the end of November People are insisting I prove I m still alive I AM JUST LET ME FINISH ONE MORE NOVEL And excerpt This is a rather nice cave Alice said as she stood at the entrance looking inside A little dark though It s a cave Peter told her Caves are dark They could put in a window Alice said looking around it as she went in It looks like they have plenty of glass already All they need now is to cut out a hole and it could be bright as day in here Oh why does this all seem so familiar I feel like I ve seen this before Alice snap out of it Peter told her grabbing her by the shoulders and spinning her around Alice stepped out of them and shook her head Has no one ever taught you not to grab a lady she demanded offended that he would grab her at all Who taught you your manners You re acting really weird And you re behaving quite rudely She turned back around walking into the rest of the cave and making comments on the lack of light as they went further and further into the dark nanowrimo Excerpts Day 17 Are You Kidding Me Right Now November 17 2013 Shea Leave a comment Reginald didn t like the sushi much Something about it not having enough sugar Word Count 123456 1 I am probably going to finish my second novel today I have literally about three points left to hit and even though I am spending the day at the parent s I will probably still finish this one and spend the evening plotting the next And with more than 10 days left in the month I will probably finish three novels this month HOW DID THIS HAPPEN Anyway let s have a lovely exchange between siblings from yesterday as our excerpt Evan rounded on him You are going to tell me what happened to you I what he stuttered staring at Evan I was I just it was Evan turned to Adrianna Adrianna he snapped at her eyes on her Wonderland Adrianna squeaked scared in that moment of her brother as he stared her down He was in Wonderland Adrianna He was being scary Would you listen to that You scared her What is Wonderland he asked turning back on Lance Is that where Adam and Matt are I it s going to sound completely insane Ev I ve seen some things myself Evan said And I m getting sick of bailing you out for stuff The least you can give me is an explanation BEST WORD COUNT nanowrimo Excerpts Day 15 A Note on Notes November 15 2013 Shea 1 Comment Word Count 108929 One thing that a lot of people don t mention too much during Nanowrimo is making notes A lot of people seem to be so into their stories or so fearful of editing that they don t do any thinking about future revisions of their work while they are writing It will ruin their flow or kick them out of the mood or something I am not like this I tend to make a lot of notes throughout my stories as I write After something is written sometimes I think there s a better spot for it somewhere or there s another element that needs to be added or changed or cut entirely And I tend to leave these notes in the prose so that I can really easily remember them when I m going back through the story later So here s the note that started off today This will be where Alice gets the email First she talks to Heather and everyone else maybe even meeting with Adrianna and Kevin in the library since they missed another day due to a test and studying so they chat about stuff and then she gets the email and then she storms off into Wonderland So all I have to do is write the scene and then we can go right into it

over their food for a few moments saying nothing to anyone They glanced at one another but weren t sure what to say about it They were quite literally stuck not sure what to do What would they do about people who would kidnap them without them even knowing it Especially when they didn t even know how they did it Heck they weren t even certain how they managed it the first time Lira felt that strain once again between her shoulders a little more coming back to her but nothing that concerned anyone else There was pain there something breaking out of her back combined with a fluffy black blanket It didn t really make any sense to her so she continued to say nothing though got the distinct feeling that she made a mistake in there that she was not anxious to repeat should she remember Shane pulled out something from his own burger after biting into it and looked at it oddly He garnered a few odd looks from around the table from the way he regarded it before he finally spoke This is a pickle Yes Shane Yes it is Header image by Shaz nanowrimo novel raven project Excerpts Day 2 Happy Fun Times November 2 2009 Shea Leave a comment I have learned today that when I drink orange juice all day the symptoms of the sick go away mostly At least the cough stops The hot flashes and the dizzy not so much but the cough stops Current Word Count 10647 From Chapter 2 It wasn t until after the cries of injustice and demands to their invisible captors yells at the screen of static for mocking them and obscenities began in full force that she felt that maybe getting off the table was the worst decision she had ever made in her life There was something odd happening to her back Whatever was pooling between her shoulder blades was starting to do something What she didn t know and her eyes flew wide and stared at the static for some explanation for it before it started to happen She dipped forward then ended up on the floor as she felt something break through the skin of her back and out There was the sound of it scraping against the concrete floor getting larger and skittering further and further until after several minutes it had stopped doing anything at all She didn t feel any pain from it only a little pressure and a deep sense of fear over what was happening to her What came next however was deeply painful so much so that she would probably awaken screaming for years to come Something more came out of her back this time flesh complete with nerve endings that stretched expanded and separated rapidly Lira let out a scream of pain feeling it as it brushed against the concrete floor completely unprotected and fastened itself to the structure that was already there It

in them I need to get through them to get back to where I know what s going on though I will get this book done before the 18th I just will No sooner had the thought crossed her mind when something rustled in the bushes It was a quiet sound at first and the rustling was small but it got gradually louder Alice didn t move from her seat on the edge of the creek and watched as out stumbled a small grey rabbit in a vest tripping head over heels right into the water Alice went forward to help him scramble out of the water Are you all right she asked helping him back to his feet He shook his fur out drenching Alice and chattering the whole while I never he said I was out for a stroll when this madwoman An axe landed hard next to them decorated with straps of leather and a couple feathers The rabbit scrambled behind Alice s legs Alice had some feeling she knew what he was about to say about a madwoman now backing up with him behind her Madwoman throwing axes at you Alice asked looking around for some sign of something to come out of the grass Didn t even do the decency of introducing herself before attempting to assault me he said The very nerve of her Not that you ve been much better mind You ve offered protection however so I will accept a certain level of rudeness on your behalf You haven t introduced yourself either Alice said Her eyes were still scanning the grass for some sign of someone in the underbrush but nothing so far And as you intruded on me I believe that requires that you make the initial introductions The rabbit hesitated Why I think you are quite correct he said Alice looked down at him in shock when something came storming out of the under brush towards them Alice glances up as the rabbit cowered behind

anymore Or in any event he wasn t going to listen to that song ever again Still it wasn t done yet The scans were still running and the song was already starting to repeat This was a And then it stopped interrupted by a strange drum beat and a mediocre sounding tune And another voice began to sing We re no stranger to love it started Maverick staring at it in complete and utter confusion It wasn t going to repeat the infernally disturbing song You know the rules and so do I A full commitment s what I m thinking of You wouldn t get this from any other guy Okay They used to have very good narcotics clearly Because this was completely insane I just wanna tell you how I m feeling Gotta make you underst Scan complete the regular computer voice began again On second thought perhaps that other song was better Now he was a little perturbed by the computer speaking to him It might want to roast his flesh nanowrimo novel Articles NaNoWriMo Guide October 15 2008 Shea Leave a comment So Nanowrimo is obviously on my mind a lot right about now Which means I have started preparing and trying to encourage several other people to join along with me again this year because the experience is wonderful This year however I m putting together my own survival guide For myself and for everyone else so much as thinking about taking on the challenge Don t Panic Like the Hitchhiker s Guide NaNoWriMo is a daunting task for a lot of people The word count seems insurmountable 50 000 words is an impossible task right It is however only 1 667 words a night Depending on your typing speed and your inspiration at that moment it can be as little as an hour a night for a month Maybe more maybe less But not nearly as much time as you think You are not Alone Around the world thousands of people are doing exactly the same thing Some of them veterans with words of wisdom and many of them newbies and first timers approaching it with the same fear and wonderment as many of the veterans The forums are a wonderful place to utilize for help if you need anything over the course of your novel Busy is Good It seems counterintuitive but being busy does amazing things for your writing It s also easier to write when you are busy No really Please stop laughing Making sure you don t spend every waking moment on the book will keep you interested in the story If it is something you do when you aren t working it will seem more like play And if you do nothing but write for the month with nothing else you are likely to lose interest because that s all there is to do And if it s all there is to do it s less likely you will do it Do Some Preparation Also important Especially if you re worried about the word count Nanowrimo allows you to do as much preparation as you want before November 1st so you can come out with outlines full character sketches whatever you need to do to get your story ready You can have everything ready to go before the end of the month so in the middle there s no chance of getting stuck But it Won t be Good No it will not in all likelihood Get over it Your first draft is never good it will always need rewrites and you do not get to the rewrite and editing phases where your story actually becomes good if you never have a first draft to start out with Writing Totems This is a personal favourite Find something to wear every single time you write Like Pavlov with his dog you will train yourself to write when you wear these When these are worn they will instantly transform you into a real writer capable of creating marvellous stories characters and plotlines You will do no wrong And when they re off you can go back to your normal life Simple as that The Head Start The beginning of the month is when people tend to be the most motivated At the start of the month try to get as much writing as you possibly can This will be a bit of a buffer in case something comes up later in the month and you will be grateful for it Check Your Inner Editor at the Door You shouldn t be editing during Nanowrimo This isn t the time for things like that he point of Nanowrimo is to give you a head start on a novel that you can later go through and edit in full No novel or story no matter how much time you put into it and how careful you are will go unedited so forget all about editing for this first draft Focus instead on getting it done ploughing ahead and never looking back November First Candy Outing November 1st is the day after Halloween Go buy lots of discount candy on a break from your day one writing Nanowrimo is a bit of a marathon and the sugar rush can be very good when you just need that extra little kick Or it can be used as Incentives Good deeds should be rewarded Milestones more so Come up with your own marks on the trail to 50K Word counts and plot points work rather well on a sheet of paper And next to each milestone write what you will give yourself for every mark First thousand words Chocolate bar Half way thorugh A day off in the city to shop for that new computer Finished Burn the computer Okay maybe not that but it s good to reward yourself for a job well done Or a milestone hit anyway Pace yourself Nanowrimo is a
