  • Translation of Economic Evidence Into Practice: Action Learning Set Training With Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Team - ScotPHN
    using them in policy and practice decision making How will it be delivered Using an action learning set format to work through problem solving sessions based on topics of interest to participants Participants will be expected to bring to the sessions a policy or practice issue they currently face which they think would benefit from health economics input or analysis The sessions will then be a mixture of taught input on concepts and techniques relevant to the issues raised by participants discussion of how health economics can help resolve those issues facilitated by Dr Emma McIntosh from HEHTA Between the taught sessions participants will be expected to work on the issues they have raised and apply the learning from the previous session Delegates will then bring their experiences of progress or of obstacles encountered back to the subsequent session for further discussion with the group What is the time commitment 3 sessions of 3 hours each plus work between sessions applying your learning to your topic of interest What will you get out of it In the short term you will get the opportunity to access health economics expertise and peer support to help you work through a current policy or practice issue that you face In the longer term you will gain knowledge skills and experience in applying health economics concepts and techniques that you can apply to your work in other areas and that you can share with other colleagues in your organisation Who is it for Any decision makers in NHS boards or other organisations who provide services or make policies that influence population health and who want to learn about ways of making scarce resources go further This includes Directors of Finance Directors of Planning Directors of Public Health and Consultants in Public Health Medicine but
