crime led from there into spells in prison Whilst in prison further rebellion and violence caused him to be locked up in solitary confinement Whilst confined in a filthy cell a stranger who came to visit him challenged Eddie s life and attitude Why don t you shut up and grow up was the opening gambit If you think you have had it bad look at what they did to Jesus the Son of God Shortly after that the Christian pastor who had come to speak to the prisoner left the cell For Eddie there were no celestial choirs no angels appeared and the ground didn t shake he experienced nothing at that moment but his life started to change even the prison governor noticed it So the hardened criminal was given new responsibilities within the prison and under supervision the changes were seen to be very real Eddie has since then been free from a life of crime and has been involved in the counselling and rehabilitation of offenders like himself both in the UK and internationally He is now working with families showing the love of God in practical ways and sharing his experiences of his life and his work with churches and Christians throughout the country Problems in homes family relationships and schools In September 2010 Eddie spoke on a Sunday morning at Beauly Baptist Church which meets in Tarradale Primary School in Muir of Ord After the service Eddie spoke also with Christians Together and outlined how lack of love self worth and boundaries is causing havoc both in homes and in schools and amongst children parents and school teachers Overworked parents drug mis use dysfunctional relationships are causing problems right across society and producing violence and fear in our communities An interview with Eddie Murison

VIII as the Divine Right of Kings becomes more secure Cometh the hour cometh the man Martin Luther s Reformation is now the dominant dynamic in the life of the Scottish nation And cometh the hour cometh the man Returned from mainland Europe a year ago John Knox the priest of Haddington is now the prophet of and to Scotland the champion of reforming zeal Mary Queen of Scots Meanwhile the young Queen Mary of Scotland daughter of King James V is living in Europe The 18 year old who grew up in France is Roman Catholic and became Queen consort of France last year through her marriage in 1558 to the French Dauphin Accordingly she is not well placed in terms of exercising a role in the land of her birth in effect the Lords of the Congregation and parliament are as much as the monarch in charge of Scotland s affairs The meeting of the Scottish Parliament on the first day of this month is already being known as the Reformation Parliament The newly created Scots Confession of Faith expediently drawn up by Knox and his five colleagues in four days was first presented to the parliamentary committee of the Lords of the Articles Last week on the 17th of August the document was presented to and accepted by Parliament Allied to this new confession are the denunciations of the enormities and the pestiferous errors of the Roman Kirk it is a direct challenge to the citadel of the Roman system Another Act is to be presented this coming week which will abolish the jurisdiction and authority of the Bishop of Rome called the Pope or his sect within the realm of Scotland A third act in course of preparation will annul all those statutes which are in

  • Christians Together : What's on the spiritual radar screen?
to read It is just too much trouble Preachers are being urged to condense sermons into sound bites and these designed to bring self gratification to the hearers rather than conviction And there are stories of some preachers now breaking up their sermons with ads in the middle How many Christians do we see carrying their Bibles about Many are now taking their theology and doctrines from paperback novels and Christian self help books And churches are doing Bible studies on seeker sensitive best sellers written by mere men While in any one book some of the material which believers are reading is good it is often increasingly and very dangerously mixed in with new age spiritualities and secular business philosophies This is creating a downward spiral amongst disciples who are reading books more than they are reading their Bibles and accordingly are less well equipped to distinguish between the Truth and the error contained sometimes in the human writings to which they are increasingly turning The move away from personal salvation to community city transformation God s master plan for saving the world is to bring individuals one at a time and personally to Himself through Jesus Christ However there is it would seem a widespread notion that what God wants to do is clean up our communities And that He aims to achieve this through Christians who by their efforts and cleverness can unite to create a kind of spiritual vapour spray which will cleanse the prevailing atmosphere Communties are will be transformed by personally changed lives rather than Christian politics in high places good though that might be Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord Almighty Meanwhile and very sadly it seems that Christians are often unable to assemble humbly and inconspicuously together in any one place to pray but rather create another high profile World Prayer Center Centre or Global Prayer Network Matt 6 5 Managing problems rather than dealing with the issues Many churches are allowing serious spiritual problems faulty relationships occult practices serious error etc to continue unchecked in their fellowships provided these are kept out of sight or the various situations managed to achieve a false peace It is much less trouble to tolerate the situation than bring a biblical discipline to bear cf Phil 4 2 3 But sooner or later these problems which are meanwhile a continuous drain on the sprititual life from a fellowship erupt in a very public and damaging way Trusting in human efforts Let me first of all say that I have a great respect for the many Christians and organisations that continue to take their various stands for righteousness and vigorously seek to oppose the contrary and downward trends in our societies and legislation I pray that God will encourage every one of His saints who seeks to be salt in a putrefying world However I do not believe that these efforts will in themselves succeed They might win some

  • Christians Together : Cardiologist's prayer raises man from the dead
to say to my colleagues and physicians out there that the Lord is real We ve seen many miracles and we pray for our patients daily There is not one week that goes by that we don t see a mighty miracle in our office The people need this they need the power of Christ in their life and they need the power of Christ for healing I would just encourage my fellow doctors to get involved in a church meet with a minister and attend a healing service run by people that believe in the power of Jesus Christ We love our colleagues in medicine we pray for them In a longer interview Dr Crandall talks about other circumstances in his professional life where God has intervened through prayer in miraculous ways On his web site the physician states I believe that we are living in an exciting and groundbreaking time God has positioned his saints like never before to bring the gospel to all those who are hurting and need Christ s powerful love and healing in their lives Ed footnote Dr Chauncey Crandall s biographical details can be found on his website Gospel for Asia Christians Together 25 06 2010 Feedback page 1 2 3 4 5 John wilson Guest 05 07 2010 18 23 In the absence of a god your argument is of no relevance at all Wrong In the absence of God the implications on society having no absolute moral standard are huge There is no right or wrong other than what you or I want it to be That is not an Exciting mix as you claim but a dangerous one There are those that try to make sense of the world using their mental capacity life experience and shared human values in some cases they go on to legislate against people that harm society There are others that lack quality and vision and have lost their way By society then can I assume that you are basing your absolute moral standard on what the majority thinks Or are you forced to admit that in an atheistic worldview you have no absolute standard for morality and no more right to define what is moral than I have Enterprising people try to make the best of our shot at life by seeking meaning and a purpose in life Some do it as individuals and often produce a ripple of goodness Again you talk about individuals who produce goodness but this is not the question the question is by what absolute moral standard do you objectively compare goodness Without one it s an ambiguous term devoid of any true meaning in an atheistic worldview Either way why actually worry about the various perceptions of goodness Why worry from a philosophical point of view that your perception of this and that varies from mine You are creating a question which has very little importance to non believers because they are too busy getting on with their shortish span of life and dealing with these different perceptions sometimes very well and sometimes very badly I am not worried about the various perceptions of goodness but am trying to help you see that without an absolute moral standard like God the underlying philosophy for an atheistic worldview falls apart and humanists are forced to borrow from biblical principles about morality How do you decide what is bad without an absolute moral standard by which to objectively compare badness What you believe to be bad I may believe in all sincerity to be good There are those that try to make sense of the world using their mental capacity life experience and shared human values in some cases they go on to legislate against people that harm society There are others that lack quality and vision and have lost their way It is an exciting mix Does the majority really have the right to decide that I lack quality and vision because I have evolved the ability to violate my conscience and get ahead in life by any means so long as I can get away with it Society may legislate against me but what is their perception of my quality and vision based upon the judge or the majority view of other homosephians On What moral grounds does it have to decide that I lack quality and vision without absolute morality In short the point you are making and the questions you put are not important but for some reason some Christians seem to think that such questions are important Let us agree to differ about how important your point is What point If there is no God ultimately philosophically how can one even be sure of the reality of my point How can one even rationally believe that there is such a thing as my point let alone decide what it is remember your perception of my point is just another chemical reaction in the brain which in itself is the result of millions of years of random chance process How could you possibly be sure of the reality of my point Every time you make a comment about what is good bad on these forums or claim to be clear thinking you are subconsciously borrowing from biblical principles and undermining your own argument Romans 2 15 New International Version 15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts their consciences also bearing witness and their thoughts now accusing now even defending them W Benn Guest 05 07 2010 22 04 Thank you John I enjoyed reading much of your contribution at 18 23 But not all of it It is true that in the absence of godly dictats we are left to make sense of it All this business about what right is disappointing but familiar nonsense Enlightened humanity finds it useful to organise and make rules in the absence of Santa because otherwise there is a danger that the weak

  • Christians Together : The Miracle of Dunkirk: 70 years on
May that Bad weather has grounded the Luftwaffe and now we must stand by and watch countless thousands of the enemy getting away to England right under our noses A strange immunity Even though some squadrons did get through it seems that yet another miracle happened Many of the troops on the beaches were favoured with a strange immunity When about 400 men were being machine gunned and bombed systematically by about sixty enemy aircraft one man who flung himself down with the rest reported that after the strafing was over he was amazed to find that there was not a single casualty Another man a chaplain was likewise machine gunned and bombed as he lay on the beach After what seemed an eternity he realized he had not been hit and rose to his feet to find that the sand all around where he had been lying was pitted with bullet holes and that his figure was outlined on the ground Amazing events Truly amazing things were happening There were signs on every hand that an intervening Power was at work Officers and men alike had seen the hand of God powerful to save delivering them from the hands of a mighty foe who humanly speaking had them at its mercy And they were not slow to say so Even Fleet Street has placed it on record that two miracles had made possible what had seemed impossible A Day of National Thanksgiving So grateful was the nation for this mighty deliverance that Sunday 9 June 1940 was appointed as a Day of National Thanksgiving On the eve of that day C B Mortlock stated in an article in The Daily Telegraph that the prayers of the nation were answered and that the God of hosts himself had supported the valiant men of the British Expeditionary Force Two great wonders stand forth he said On them have turned the fortune of our troops I have talked to officers and men who have got safely back to England and all of them tell of these two phenomena The first was the great storm which broke over Flanders on Tuesday 28 May The second was the great calm which settled on the English Channel during the days following Officers of high rank do not hesitate to put down the deliverance of the British Expeditionary Force to the fact of the nation being at prayer on Sunday 26 May two days before that great storm in Flanders and the calm that came over the Channel The word miracle was soon being heard on all sides and a consciousness of a miraculous deliverance pervaded the camps in which the troops were being housed back in England Mr Churchill when he chose 4 June as the occasion for making a statement to the House of Commons spoke with a voice charged with emotion when he reported that rather than 20 000 or 30 000 men being re embarked 335 000 men had been carried out of the jaws of death and shame to their native land He referred to what had happened as a miracle of deliverance Psalm124 sung in the churches When the services of national thanksgiving were held in all churches on the following Sunday 9 June it was with great feeling that many a choir and congregation sang the words of Psalm 124 for they were seen to apply to that situation through which the nation had just passed If the Lord himself had not been on our side now may Israel say if the Lord himself had not been on our side when men rose up against us They would have swallowed us up quick when they were so wrathfully displeased at us Yea the waters had drowned us and the stream had gone over our soul The deep waters of the proud would have gone over our soul But praised be the Lord Who has not given us over for a prey unto their teeth Our soul is escaped even as a bird out of the snare of the fowler the snare is broken and we are delivered Our help standeth in the name of the Lord who hath made heaven and earth No other passage of Scripture could have more aptly described the nation s experience on that day The words seem to have been especially written for the occasion Footnote The above article is extracted from a trilogy entitled The Trumpet Sounds for Britain written by Rev David E Gardner who went to be with the Lord in 2002 just before the trilogy was republished Whilst serving in the Royal Navy during WW2 an emergency in a submarine caused him to recognise the miraculous deliverance of God This personal deliverance later helped him to understand what God had done for the people of Britain as a whole many times in their history The trilogy which is available from the publishers chronicles the development and growth of Christianity in Britain from the earliest times However his Trumpet writings are prophetic in nature and in many ways anticipate and speak into our present condition David E Gardner 28 05 2010 Feedback page 1 2 3 Wesley Cook Guest 25 01 2012 10 41 here try this one Hitler Pharoah had all those Allies
